Words by Luke Galea Visuals by Yentl Spiteri on Midjourney In the summer you took me to your favourite beach. Under the Maltese sun we drew invisible lines in the crystal sea Like a mermaid, you emerge from the sea, head full of water, the sea water trickles down your face indistinguishable from any past tear I lean forward and lick one drop the salt rides my tongue. Reminds me of us eating peaches in summer The sweet nectar urges my tongue to brush over my lips Ravishing for the way we tore into peaches in summer The sweet, luscious nectar trickles gushingly on my cheek Unhesitatingly you push your finger against the trickle and smile at me Knowing you’d excite me more than seeing you naked for the first time. In Autumn, when the peaches stopped being in season I was no longer luscious I was no longer a summer peach, but I became flat, hard, Gutted me like the pits from the peach in summer.
