MY DVĚ
the wandering duo

If you don’t speak Czech, you probably have no idea what MY DVĚ translates to. ‘Two of us girls’ is in fact the answer, and it should therefore come as no surprise that MY DVĚ is made up of artist duo Monika and Veronika.

Monika Matějková and Veronika Watzková met during their studies at Prague University of Arts, Architecture & Design where they realised they shared a common passion for fantasy worlds. Through their enthusiasm for handiwork, colour interventions and combinations of materials, they bonded and built together a shared style combining craft and narrative. This is how their BLUDARIUM serieses came to be.

The creatures of BLUDÁRIUM have a wooden soul. They tell the story of a tree which has come to life and chosen a path of its own: to protect its surroundings, fill space with its spirit, guard, keep company and bring joy.

‘At the edge of darkness, under a veil of dusk, a strange companion approaches… perplexing the senses and evoking a smile, this is BLUDARIUM’

Born from pieces of leftover wood, complemented with fired ceramic elements and action painting, each creature possesses a different character – however their purely sculptural nature unites them and binds them.

BLUDÁRIUM also comes loaded with ulterior motive: a criticism of the senseless cycle of felling Czech forests to be sold for wood internationally, where they are converted into mass produced cheap products which shortly after reappear on the Czech market.

Based in Prague, Czechia, MY DVĚ has presented its projects during Milan Design Week and toured to London, Moscow and Tokyo amongst others. Their work can be found in the permanent collections of Museums in Prague and Brno. MY DVĚ’s objects are also highly sought after privately thanks to their uniqueness which makes them highly collectible.
